This is probably the hardest thing to do in graphics design. If you use stocks or renders, you must always blend them together with the rest of the graphic so that it doesn't stand out too much but so that it still has a powerful effect and you have a nicely done finished product.
For this, I would just recommend playing around with the Blending Options (To do this, Go to Layer>Layer Style>Blending Options or simply Right-Click the actual layer and go to Blending Options). When you do this, I would try different settings and opacities on your stock and render layers and keep playing with it until you get something you like. If you'd like to get some ideas on this, feel free to check out some of my tutorials or any other sig tutorials that are out there on the web.

There are various ways of adding lighting effects. I'm going to tell you about the ones that I know about and that I personally have found to be effective. The difference between a render and a stock is that a render is basically a cut-out of a picture and a stock is an actual picture. More specifically, a render could be of an athlete, celebrity, object, etc. A render is also known as a cut. To find some examples of renders, just check out my cut gallery. First of all, you need a graphics program. The most commonly used one is any form of Adobe Photoshop. The latest edition is Photoshop CS3. However, any version of Photoshop is good. I, myself, have used Photoshop 7 and currently use CS2. However, those of you not willing to shell out money for Photoshop will have to find other means of getting a program. I am going to be writing this blog with graphics tips for fellow graphics designers. I will start from the basics and eventually move on to tips and tricks that I find along the way. |
